CLINTON, NY – The men and women's cross country teams were both in action on Sunday, as they opened the 2009 season at the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational. The women's race consisted of a 4K, while the men went 6K.

 

Sophomore Erin Horgan highlighted the day for the Dutchwomen by placing 22^nd with a mark of 17:01.7.

 

Senior Rebecca Skudder also enjoyed a top-25 performance, finishing 25^th with a time of 17:04.3.

 

As a team, Union ran the race in 88:16.8 or with a 17.39.4 average.

 

The men's day featured a fifth place finish by freshmen Gabe Sturges, who went out in 19.49.9.

 

Senior Max Jack placed 20^th with a mark of 21:01.1 and freshmen Ethan Loew was right behind him with a time of 21:08.3.

 

The Dutchmen posted a time of 104:42.3 with a 20:56.5 average.

 

Both teams now turn their attention to the Purple Valley Classic at Williams on Saturday, Sept. 26.
