SCHENECTADY, NY -- Three members of the Union College men's basketball team have received 2009-10 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards. Each of the three captains were honored. Senior guard Joey Lokitis was one of three unanimous selections for the First Team, while senior forward Matt Covucci and senior guard Drew Goldstein were named to the Honorable Mention Team.

Lokitis is averaging 16.0 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per contest. He has 66 assists, 41 assists, and is shooting 81.6% from the free throw line. Lokitis is a five time Liberty League Guard of the Week, the most weekly honors of any guard this season. He leads Union in scoring, three point field goals and free throw shooting. In Liberty League rankings, Lokitis is first in three point field goals made (by 18), and is third in socring, sixth in steals, ninth in assists, ninth in three point field goal percentage and 10th in rebounding. He has scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games, and has 20 or more points in nine games. He is averaging 21.0 points in his last five games, and has two double doubles this season. Lokitis posted 10 rebounds each against Medgar Evers and Clarkson. He scored 24 at Hamilton and 23 vs. Elms. He also had six assists at RPI. Since January 22, Union is 7-4 and Lokitis has averaged 18.3 points during that span. On Feb. 19 he became the 17th Union men's basketball player to record 1,000 career points. Lokitis was named to the Honorable Mention team last season.

Covucci is averaging 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 points per contest. He has 70 assists, 31 steals and 19 blocks. Covucci is third in the league in rebounding and leads Union in that department. He is also seventh in blocked shots and third in offensive rebounds, while ranking eighth in assists. Covucci averaged 10.0 rebounds from February 2 through February 20. He posted a career best 14 rebounds against both Skidmore and Hamilton on the road, and had 13 boards at SUNYIT and home vs. RPI. He has had at least seven rebounds in each of hte last 11 games entering the post-season tournament.

Goldstein is scoring at a 9.5 clip and has 62 assists and 50 steals. He leads Union in steals, and is third in the league in steals. He leads the Liberty League in three point field goal percentage, three point field goals made, and is sixth in the league in field goal percentage. Goldstein has 13 games with double figure scoring, including a season high 18 points vs. Southern Vermont and 17 at Skidmore. He has 10 games with three or more steals, including a career best seven at Western New England, and five games with five or more rebounds. He had a season best seven assists in the regular season finale at St. Lawrence.

Union, 12-12 overall, finished the regular season with an 8-6 Liberty League record. The #4 seed Dutchmen will play at #1 St. Lawrence Friday night at 8 p.m. in a Liberty League Semifinal Tournament Game. #2 Skidmore faces #3 Hobart at 6 p.m. and the winners will meet for the league championship and automatic NCAA playoff berth Saturday at 3 p.m.
