Schapp earns All-American honors at NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -
Union College's Steve Schapp competed his outstanding career Saturday by earning Honorable Mention All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Championships on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

On Saturday, Schapp finished 15th with a time of 16:05.18 in the 1,650 Freestyle, which earned his his third Honorable Mention All-American honor in his four year career. He was seeded at 16:18.35 and bested that seed to earn the honors in the final event of his career.

Schapp competed in the 100 freestyle preliminaries and finished in 38th place. He was timed at 51.31.
On Wednesday, Schapp finished 23rd in the preliminary round of the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:36.93. 

On March 22, Schapp was named the Liberty League Men's Swimmer of the Week for the fifth time this season. He won the honor eight times during his career.

Union Head Coach Scott Felix has had at least one female or male representative at the NCAA Championships every season since he took over the program prior to the 2001-02 season.
