A four-year starter in both soccer and basketball, Katie Smith filled the stat sheet in both respective sports. Smith got off to a phenomenal start her freshman season in Schenectady, leading the soccer team with 29 points (12 goals, 5 assists) en route to being named the UCAA Rookie of the Year. She finished her soccer career ranked second in all-time scoring list with 39 goals, 19 assists for 97 points. On the basketball court, Smith ranks second all-time with 1,411 career points and is one of just seven players to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. She was the soccer team’s and UCAA’s (later Liberty League) Rookie of the Year in 1988, and also was a UCAA women’s basketball First Team All Star and ECAC Second Team all star on the court.
