Union College Athletics

Rich was the NCAA Division III National Champion in the shot put event in 1995. He still holds the Union record in that event at 56’ 6 ¾" at the time of his induction. In 1995, he won the New York State Championship in the shot put. Rich was named Union’s Most Valuable Player in the 1994 and 1995 outdoor track & field seasons. He won the shot put event at Brown with a toss of 51’9." Rich had a then-career best throw of 54’ for first in a meet that preceded the New York State Championships. He also dominated the competition in another meet prior to the state championships, competing with many other outstanding individuals in the meet at the University of Rochester.
