Merinder tabbed with weekly Liberty League award

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College sophomore Jen Merinder (Andover, Mass.) has been named the Liberty League Women's Track & Field Co-Runner of the Week for competition ending Sunday, May 18, 2008. The honor marks the fifth on the season for Merinder, who broke her own record in the 400 meter hurdles at the ECAC Championships Friday.
 
Merinder cut more than a tenth of a second off her own record she had set two weeks prior for a time of 1:04.11 to clock an NCAA provisional qualifying time finish fourth in the 400 meter hurdles at the ECAC Championships Friday.
 
Also at ECAC's, Merinder teamed up with Rachel Fitz (Medford, N.Y.), Julie LaSpina (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and Clarissa Odence (Lincoln, Mass.) for the 4x100 meter relay which posted its fastest time of the season for a 23rd-place finish at 51.83.

Merinder also ran in the 4x400 relay with Fitz, Kerry Bannon (West Hartford, Conn.) and Odence, placing  18th with a time of 4:13.60.
