Nyuma Honored; Dutchmen go to RPI of Wednesday Semi-Final Tilt

SCHENECTADY, NY – Men's soccer freshman forward Sahr Nyuma was named the Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Week only days before fourth-seeded Union travels to top-seeded RPI for a Wednesday postseason match. Nyuma and the Dutchmen will take on the Engineers on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference semi-final contest.

Union needed a victory last Saturday and a Vassar loss or tie against RPI to qualify for the Liberty League postseason. With the help of Nyuma's game-winning goal during the 40th minute, the Dutchmen knocked off Skidmore for a 4-1 win. At the same time the Engineers cruised to a 4-0 victory at Vassar, allowing the Dutchmen to keep its season alive.

Wednesday's matchup will be the second of the season between the two teams with the first coming on Oct. 9 at RPI. Senior Jack Scott scored in the 10th minute as Union upset sixth-ranked RPI, 1-0.

The winner of the semi-final game will take on the winner of third-seeded Hamilton and second-seeded Hobart. The Liberty League Championship will be on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the highest remaining seed's home field.
