SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men's tennis team put the wraps on its 2008-09 season with a thrilling 5-4 victory against Hartwick on Wednesday afternoon.
Matt Goodnow led the way for Union winning both his single and doubles match.
After nearly three and a half hours and the match tied at 4-4, Goodnow showed poise rebounding after a 4-6 first set loss. He responded with a 6-3 win and a 6-4 deciding victory.
Union jumped out with a 2-1 advantage early, taking two of the three double bouts. Goodnow and
Alex Katz teamed in the third position for a 8-5 win, while
Vic Ravikumar, who was playing in his last collegiate match, joined
Dan Nault for a 8-3 win.
After Hartwick took the first and second singles, Nault won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 and
Jay Shah with a 6-4, 7-5 win.
