SCHENECTADY, NY -- Senior forward Jabel Prom (Sandy Spring, MD) scored two goals and senior forward/back Ben Russell (Rochester, NY) provided two assists as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute downed John Jay, 8-0 at the Union College Classic at College Park Field Saturday. The Engineers are now 2-0 after a pair of wins in the tourney while the Bloodhounds stand 1-2 on the year.
RPI also got single goals by Lincoln Field (Contoocook, NH), Jordan Ward (Derry, NH), Alex Papageorgis (Montclair, NJ), Matt Koliopoulos (Franklin, MA), Luke Burton (Remsen, NY), Adam Updegrove (Carson City, NV) and Julian Coy (Bristow, VA).
The Engineers also dominated in shots (43-1) and corners (8-1) as well as on the scoreboard. Joseph Rahilly (Malverne, NY) made seven saves for the Bloodhounds while two RPI keepers did not make a save on the day as the lone John Jay shot was wide.
Ward opened the scoring at 15:56 and Prom notched his second and third goals of the season at 30:42 and 35:07. Just 4:31 later, Coy made it 4-0, the score at the half. A total of 18 players came off the bench in the RPI victory.
