SCHENECTADY, NY -- For the first time this season, Union College junior
Melissa Hine has won a Liberty League honor. She is the Women's Lacrosse Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, sharing the honor with Molly Fitzgerald of William Smith, for games through May 2.
Hine had 14 points, including 13 assists, in two games for the Dutchwomen. She dished out nine assists in #11 Union's 13-7 win at William Smith and had four more assists in the game at #1 Hamilton. On the season, Hine now has 50 assists for the Dutchwomen. She is ranked 10th nationally in NCAA Division III in assists per game.
Union is ranked #11 for the third straight week in the IWLCA Division III National Poll. The Dutchwomen, 10-6, are the #2 seed in this weekend's Liberty League Championship Tournament. Union will play #3 St. Lawrence at 5 p.m. Friday, May 7 at Hamilton in one semifinal. The winner will face either #1 Hamilton or #4 RPI Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
