Union Men’s Lacrosse well represented on Liberty League All-Star teams

Sean Aaron joins six other Dutchmen as Liberty League All-Stars
SCHENECTADY, NY – In all seven Union College men's lacrosse student-athletes garnered All-Liberty League honors, including sophomore goaltender Sean Aaron, junior attack Brendan Kinnane and senior midfielder Charles Hovsepian on the first team. Senior midfielder Scott Garibaldi and junior defenseman Derek Witheford took home second team honors and sophomore defenseman Robert Sullivan and sophomore attack Ted McKenna were named honorable mention.


 
First Team Goalie
Aaron, the only three-time Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week, not only leads the Liberty League in goals-against average and save percentage, but he is the national leader in both categories. An All-America candidate, Aaron finished the regular season with a 5.34 goals-against average and a .717 save percentage. He has registered 11 wins this season, tying a school record for wins. Aaron, has made 12 or more saves in nine games, including a career-high 23 in an 8-4 at Oneonta State.

 
First Team Attack
Kinnane, a three-time Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week, ranks third in the conference with 2.86 points-per-game and 1.43 assists-per-game. He leads the Union offense with 40 points, including a team-high 20 assists. He has registered 20 goals, including three game winners and five man-up goals. He has collected 36 groundballs and caused four turnovers.

 
First Team Short Stick Specialist
Hovsepian's contributions can be seen on both sides of the field. In 14 games, he has registered five goals and two assists for seven points. He has also caused nine turnovers and collected 28 groundballs, helping Union have the top defense in the country. He is one of four captains on the team.

 
Second Team Midfield
Garibaldi, also a captain, has been an offensive threat from the midfield, scoring 10 goals and 10 assists in 14 games played. His 20 points rank third on the team, while his 49 shots are second. He has registered a game-winning goal and four man-up tallies. On Mar. 29 he was named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week.

Derrick Witeford
 
Second Team Defense
Witheford is one of the premiere defenders in the country, leading Union to carry the best goals-against average in the country with a 5.65 goals-against average. For the season, Witheford has produced a team-high 44 groundballs and caused a team-best 19 turnovers.

Robert Sullivan
 
Honorable Mention
Sullivan has played in all 14 games, picking up 15 groundballs and causing 11 turnovers. With his help the Dutchmen's man-down defense is tied for third, keeping opponents off the board 89.2 percent of the time.

Ted McKenna
 
Honorable Mention
McKenna, an Academic All-American nominee, leads Union with 22 goals, including four game-winners, and is second with 32 points. He is seventh in the conference for goals-per-game (1.57) and 10th for assists-per-game (0.71). He has registered at least one point in 13-of-14 games and has had nine multi-point games.
