SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's and women's team collectively earned four end of season awards. The men's team earned one from the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association, while the women earned three awards from the Liberty League.
First-year
Jason Bois earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors for his efforts in the 110m hurdles, finishing as one of the top-five individuals in each event in the Mideast Region. Bois clocked a season 15.16 in the finals of the Liberty League Championships on May 6th. Bois earned a birth to the finals with a 15.30 in the prelims, before finishing in fourth overall at the meet with his new season best in the 110m hurdles.
Bois is Union's third USTFCCCA All-Region honoree this year, joining first-year
Landers Green and junior
Eli Coleman, who garnered All-Region honors during the indoor season.
On the women's side, senior
Denesha Lafontant, junior
Alayna Gibson, and the 4x400m relay team earned Liberty League honorable mention for their performances at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships.
Lafontant continued her excellent season with an honorable mention after grabbing third place in triple jump with a jump of 11.20 meters at the Liberty League Championships.
Gibson ended her junior season on a fantastic note with a third-place finish in the 800m. Gibson was seeded 10th with a 2:25.60 and clocked a blazing 2:20.93 for a top-three finish and also qualified for the All-Atlantic Track and Field Championships. This time also set a new personal best for her.
The 4x400m relay team of juniors
Caroline Stanton and
Kasey McGerald, and sophomores
Gabi Baker and
Cat Dacey, secured a third-place finish in the race with a 4:09.16 to earn All-Conference honors as well.
Bois, Gibson, and the 4x400m relay team members are all slated to return next season for the 2023-24 Indoor and Outdoor seasons.
