Dutchwomen concludes road trip with loss to Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT –
The Union women's ice hockey team concluded their season-opening three-game road trip with a set back, 4-1, to Vermont on Sunday.
 
Union tied the game up five minutes into the second period when senior defense Jackie Koetteritz scored her first goal on the season with help from sophomore forward Lauren Hoffman.
 
Freshman goalie Alana Marcinko made 22 saves while the Dutchwomen made nine shots on goal.
 
Vermont's Chelsea Rapin scored the first goal of the game just before the first intermission. Brittany Nelson scored the game-winning goal at 12:29 on the second period.
 
Union will open the home side of the 2009-10 season on Oct. 16 against Sacred Heart at the Messa Rink. Faceoff is scheduled at 7 p.m.
