Dutchmen's soccer defeats Worcester State, 2-0

– Junior forward Chris Santangelo scored on a header off a corner kick 10:55 into the first half and junior midfielder Teddy Steen added a penalty kick in the second half as the Union men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 victory over Worcester State at the Union College Classic at College Park Saturday afternoon.

 

Senior forward John Manna drew the penalty kick on a run into the 18-yard box with 16:10 remaining in the contest. Steen beat Worcester State goalkeeper Evan Wiga with a low shot for his first goal of the season.

 

Manna had a hand in Union's first goal early in the contest, sending a corner kick into the box that Satangelo finished high into the net for his first goal of the season.

 

The Dutchmen recorded 16 shots on net for the game and junior goalkeeper Adam Margulies made two saves for Union's second straight shutout.  

 

Union improved to 2-0 on the season while the Lancers fell to 1-2.

 

The Dutchmen host Western Connecticut State Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
