Union College Athletics

Stefan Basile '15 enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Union College men's lacrosse team in 2020. He also begins his second season as Ticket Manager and Business Operations Assistant for the Department of Athletics as well.

In his second season with the Dutchmen, he helped guide goalie Jack Santilli '19 to USILA All-America honorable mention recognition, continuing a trend of strong goaltending that he was a part of during his four-year career at Union from 2012-15.

Basile was the starting goalie for three seasons at Union, compiling a 33-16 record and making 559 career saves to go with an 8.62 goals against average and a .581 save percentage. The two-time All-Liberty League selection currently ranks second in school history in wins as well as fifth in saves, goals against average and save percentage. As a junior in 2014, he earned the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Award as the USILA Division III Goalie of the Year in leading the Dutchmen to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, and then helped the team to its highest national ranking ever as a senior, reaching as high as third in the USILA Div. III National poll.

Basile returned to his alma mater in 2018 after two serving two years as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence University in 2016-17. Additionally, Basile has coached with the Fayetteville-Manlius Youth Lacrosse program and was the goalie coach for the Central New York Roadhawks Lacrosse Club in Syracuse.

Basile graduated from Union in 2015.
