Central Park "A" Diamond

The Union College baseball team called Central Park home until 2016 and returns to its home city once again for the 2024 season, playing at the famed "A" Diamond.

The Central Park "A" Diamond was home to the Mohawk Giants of the Negro Leagues from 1924 through 1943, attracting thousands of spectators to the Electric City. The field was rededicated for the Giants' biggest star, William “Buck” Ewing, a catcher who spent five years in the Negro Leagues including three with the famed Homestead Greys. The City of Schenectady made a $1.5 million investment to upgrade and redevelop the field between 2015 and 2017, including a fully turfed surface, new bullpens and enclosed dugouts.
