CANTON, N.Y.---St. Lawrence improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League by defeating Union, 3-0. The loss drops the Dutchmen to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the league.
In the 18th minute of play, Mark McIntire scored an unassisted goal to give the Saints the lead. McIntire stood at the left side of the goalie box and booted a shot over the diving Union goalie. The ball hit the top right corner of the net for the score.
In the second half, McIntire found net again, this time on an assist from Charlie Bour. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Gil Schaper drove a ball in the net on assists from McIntire and Garrett Huntley.
The Saints finished with a 13-2 shot advantage in the highly emotional game, which featured a total of 27 fous.
Union goalkeeper Matt Mayerhofer recorded five saves while Saints' netminder Jordan James stopped two saves for the shutout.
