Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Kristin Murphy scored three goals and added a pair of assists as Union defeated Castleton State, 6-1, in a non-league field hockey game on Frank Bailey Field.
The win improved the Dutchwomen's overall record to 4-9, the most wins since the program produced six victories in 2000.
Castleton, meanwhile, fell to 2-11.
Castleton opened the scoring as Dawn Pratt found the back of the net with 16:59 left in the opening half. Murphy gave Union a 2-1 lead as she scored her fourth goal of the season with 13:03 left and then added what proved to be the game-winner with 9:10 on the clock. Hilliary Benoit's third goal of the season came with 8:03 left and gave the Dutchwomen a 3-1 advantage at intermission.
Jessica Trotter the first Dutchwoman since 2000 to score nine times in a season when she found the back of the net with 34:12 left to play. Lauren Foye and Murphy rounded out the final margin.
Union's Amanda Meissner and Castleton's Megan Ahern each recorded four saves.
