SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Sophomore forward Jessica Trotter recorded her first career hat track while Chelsea Harris found the back of the net twice as Union defeated Stevens Institute, 7-1, in a non-league field hockey game on Frank Bailey Field.
The win improved Union's record to 2-7 while the Ducks fell to 0-7.
Trotter, who was a member of the soccer team as a freshman, has scored two goals in a game twice before this season.
Anna Polk gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead in the first half before the Dutchwomen Harris answered with an unassisted tally. Trotter picked up the game-winner with 16:01 left in the opening 35 minutes before goals by Lauren Moye and Trotter gave Union a 4-1 advantage at the break.
Trotter's third goal of the game opened the second half and made it 5-1 before tallies by Harris and senior Sarah Klopfer rounded out the final margin.
Union finished the game with a 28-1 shot on goal advantage.
