Hamilton Beats Union in Overtime, 2-1

CLINTON, N.Y.--Hamilton College's Kristen Archibald  scored her second goal of the year with 5:44 left in the first overtime to give the Continentals a 2-1 win against Union College at Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 23.

 

Hamilton (2-12 overall) improved to 2-5 in the Liberty League with the win. The Continentals finished their season in sixth place in the league standings. Union dropped to 1-6 in the league and 5-12 overall.

 

Archibald scored off an assist from Natalie Schwerin on a penalty corner to complete Hamilton's rally from a 1-0 deficit in the second half. The teams played a scoreless first half before the Dutchwomen drew first blood on a goal by Jessica Trotter  with 26:21 remaining in regulation. The unassisted goal was Trotter's team-high 13th of the year. Lauren Hayden tied the score for Hamilton almost nine minutes later. Kerry Leonard was credited with the assist on Hayden's first goal of the year.

 

Polly Noble made three saves for the Continentals while Amanda Meissner stopped eight shots for Union. Hamilton enjoyed an 18-10 advantage in shots, including 4-1 in overtime.
