SCHENECTADY, N.Y.The Dutchmen ended one of the best regular-seasons in its history with a 0-0 double overtime tie with Skidmore. Union, which has put together four winning campaigns for the first time since 1983, '84, '85 and 1986, is 10-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Liberty League.
Union, which qualified for the Liberty League's four-team postseason tournament for the first time ever, is the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 2 Hamilton (10-3-1/4-2-1) on Friday at 1:30 at St. Lawrence. Meanwhile, the top-seeded Saints (14-2/7-0) battle No. 4 Rensselaer (9-5-3/4-3) at 11 a.m. The championship is set for Saturday at noon at St. Lawrence.
The Dutchmen are 5-0-1 in their last six games.
Union finished the game against Skidmore with a 14-6 overall shot advantage with Skidmore goalie Jake Densen stopping six shots. The Dutchmen's Matt Mayerhofer finished with a pair of saves.
