SCHENECTADY, N.Y.-Union showed its bench strength as the Dutchmen's non-starters accounted for 45 points in Saturday's 78-48 basketball victory over Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association rival Vassar at Memorial Field House.
The win improves Union's record to 4-3 in the conference and 14-4 overall. The victory also keeps the Dutchmen in the UCAA regular-season title hunt as five teams (Union, Hamilton, St. Lawrence, Hobart, and Skidmore) entered the day with 3-3 circuit records. Vassar, meanwhile, dropped to 2-14 overall, 0-7 in the UCAA.
Starting forward Ryan Freundlich led all scorers with 11 points in 21 minutes of court time. Meanwhile, T.J. Ramey and Jim Rahill came off of the bench to tally eight points each while Joseph Mackey scored seven markers. Starting forward Devon Bruce collected a game-high seven rebounds.
The Brewers were led by Jud Winton, who had nine markers.
