Ephs defeat Dutchwomen, 6-0

Box Score

Williams defeated non-conference opponent Union 6-0. Led by senior tri-captain Christa Petrelli, who notched two goals and an assist in her first game back from a shoulder injury, the Ephs took control of the game early.

The Ephs came out of the gate aggressively and immediately put pressure on the Union defense. Petrelli fed sophomore Cathleen Clark off of a free hit just eight minutes into the game to give Williams the 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Petrelli followed that up with a goal of her own on a corner play, assisted by senior Tri-Captain Clare Whipple. Whipple concluded the first half scoring by converting a stroke, giving the Ephs a 3-0 half time lead.

Petrelli was again the sparkplug for the Eph offense early in the second half, netting her second goal of the game of a pass from sophomore Rebecca Allen. Two minutes later first-year Elspeth MacMillan took a pass from junior Katie Fulton off a corner play and buried it in the back of the net, giving the Ephs a 5-0 lead. A beautiful goal by first-year Sarah Dupont, assisted by junior Jaye Gregory, capped the scoring for the day with just over a minute to play.

Goalkeepers Wendy Stone and Emily Wasserman combined to record the shutout for Williams, while Amanda Meissner manned the net for Union, recording seven saves.
