Marotti throws a Union-Record Five Touchdown Passes in Union's 50-36 win over U of R

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Sophomore quarterback Tony Marotti completed 22 of 33 passes

for 301 yards and broke a 29-year old Union College record by throwing five

touchdowns passes as the Dutchmen defeated the University of Rochester, 50-36,

in the Liberty League opener for both teams. 

 

Union, which broke a four-game losing streak dating back to the final two games

of last year, is now 1-2 overall while the Yellowjackets are 1-3.  The victory

was the 100th for Union head coach John Audino, 91 of which have come during his

13-year tenure in Schenectady.  It marked the eighth time since 1987 that Union

won at home against Rochester.

 

Sophomore wide receiver Ryan Twitchell had his third consecutive 100-plus yard

game as he caught five passes for 106 yards and touchdowns of 13 and 57 yards. 

Ryan Perry, Sean Washington and Mandon Lovett each caught a touchdown pass

of 13, 20 and 27 yards respectively).

 

Rochester's Nate Gibbons returned seven kickoffs for 254 yards including

touchdown runs of 82 and 85 yards.  Quarterback Aaron Molisani completed 12

of 28 paaes for 193 yards and had touchdown tosses of 15 yards to Pat

O'Brien and 73 yards to Dave Ferris.
