Dutchwomen Hold Off Hamilton, 56-54, to Remain Undefeated in League Play

CLINTON, N.Y.Senior forwards Emily Scott and KatylnCunningham each converted a free throw in the final 1:08 to help Union defeat Hamilton, 56-54, and remain undefeated in the Liberty League.  The win was the fifth-straight for the Dutchwomen, who are now 4-0 in the league and 10-3 overall.  Hamilton fell to 7-5, 1-2 in the circuit.

Trailing by one at the half, 23-22, Union led by six, 54-48, with 2:21 left after Cunningham hit a jumper and free throw.  A three-point basket by Jessica Barrows cut Hamilton's deficit to one, 54-53, with 1:24 left.  Scott made it a two-point game with 1:08 left before Pumla Sathula's one of two charity shots again brought the hosts back to within one with 55 seconds left, 55-54.  Cunningham scored one of two free throws with 42 seconds showing and Hamilton missed an opportunity for the upset win by missing its last three field goals attempts, including the game's final shot with three seconds remaining.

Cunningham finished with 19 points for the Dutchmen while Courtney Shepard added 14.  Shepard and Cunningham also paced Union on the boards with nine and seven rebounds, respectively.
