Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.The Hobart College basketball team won its fourth straight game with an 81-69 victory over Union College this afternoon in Bristol Gym. Sophomore guard Mike Manning led four Statesmen in double digits with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Dutchmen (8-8, 2-3 Liberty League) led by as many as nine in the opening half, but an 11-5 Hobart surge to end the opening stanza knotted the contest at 38-38 heading into the break. Junior guard Joe Virgilio keyed the run with five of his nine points.
The second half was a back and forth affair in the early going. Union took its final lead of the contest at the 13:12 mark on a three-pointer by junior guard John Cagianello. He led all scorers with 27 points, including five trifectas.
The Statesmen responded with a 10-0 run to take control of the contest. Junior guard Colby Feane sparked Hobart with five of his 16 points.
Senior forward Joe Flacke added 16 points and seven boards to the winning effort, while sophomore forward Mike Mastro produced an outstanding all-around effort, 13 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.
Senior forward Devon Bruce was the only other Dutchman in double digits with 12 points.
