Box ScoreCLINTON, N.Y. - Union College's Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, N.Y./Mohawk HS) assisted on all three Dutchwomen goals in a 3-0 Liberty League win against Hamilton College at Love Field on Oct. 7.
Union (8-1-1 overall, 3-0-0 league) is ranked fifth in the New York Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Dutchwomen had lost two straight to the Continentals and last defeated Hamilton (5-2-0, 2-2) in the 2002 league tournament semifinals. The Continentals are ranked eighth in the region. Hamilton has lost two straight games for the first time since Oct. 4, 2003.
Cassandra Mariani (Boonton, NJ/Morris Catholic) opened the scoring with her team-leading ninth goal in the 29th minute. Ashley Brown (Plainville, CT/Suffield Academy) made the score 2-0 with just 3:38 left in the first half. Chelsea Hargis (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme) tallied the clinching goal in the 64th minute. Both Brown and Hargis have five goals this year. Julie Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) made three saves in the second half to pick up the shutout.
Union thoroughly dominated the first half as the Dutchwomen enjoyed a 10-0 advantage in shots and a 4-0 cushion on corner kicks during the first 45 minutes.
The Dutchwomen play at William Smith Saturday at 2 p.m. The Herons are ranked #1 in the region and #4 in the nation in the NSCAA Division III poll.
