Box ScoreSCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Senior setter Suzy Barbaritz (Clarence, NY/Clarence) had 35 assists to lead Union to a four-game victory over SUNY Oneonta in volleyball action Tuesday night at the Union Field House.
Barbaritz was one of six seniors honored prior to their final home match of the season. The Dutchwomen won the match after losing the first game. Union won by scores of 28-30, 30-28, 32-30 and 30-26.
Senior outside hitter Charelle Carter (Schenectady, NY/ND-BG) had 14 kills for Union, while freshman middle hitter Erin Schumaker (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) posted 11 kills for Union (9-25).
SUNY Oneonta was paced by freshman setter Jessica Ptasnick (Wingdale, NY/Dover), who had 23 assists, and junior libero Maegen Eddinger (Apalachin, NY/Oswego Free Academy) had 30 digs. Senior defensive specialist Jill Meehan (Albany, NY/Guilderland) added 12 kills and three block assists.
The Red Dragons completed their season with a 14-21 mark.
Other seniors playing in their final home match were outside hitter Stephanie Schuman (San Francisco, CA/Urban School), outside hitter Katja DeVries (Warwick, NY/Warwick), defensive specialist Sarah Conant (Dallas, TX/Highland Park), and right side hitter Nicole Sabbatino (Somers, NY/Somers).
Union will compete in the Liberty League Championships Friday and Saturday at St. Lawrence.
