Dutchwomen down Skidmore in Liberty League Semis, 3-0

GENEVA, NY -- Three players each scored to lead #2 seed Union to a 3-0 victory over #3 Skidmore in a semifinal game of the 2005 Liberty League Women's Soccer Championships Friday at William Smith.

In the other semifinal, the host and top seed Herons defeated fourth seed Hamilton, 3-0. Saturday's championship game will feature two nationally ranked teams, as 15-0-1 William Smith (#4 in the NSCAA/adidas poll) meets 16-1-2 Union (ranked #21 in the poll) at 1 p.m. In the previous meeting, the Dutchwomen and Herons battled to a two-overtime 1-1 draw October 8 in Geneva.

Molly Flanagan (Simsbury, CT/Loomis Chaffee) opened the scoring with her second goal of the year at 15:56. Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA/King Philip Regional) gave the Dutchwomen a 2-0 advantage with her 13th with nearly 37 minutes gone in the contest. Union closed out the scoring with the 13th of the year from Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) four minutes into the second half.

Union outshot Skidmore, 27-5 and had a 10-5 corner kick advantage. Julie Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) made two saves in over 84 minutes while reserve Kaitlin Graham (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) also stopped two in the Union nets. Lisa Mils made nine saves for Skidmore.
