UTICA, N.Y. -- Freshman Mallory Davis rebounded an Ava Thomas jumper and laid it in at the buzzer as Utica College defeated Union College 54-53 at the Clark Athletic Center Thursday evening.

The Pioneers trailed 45-40 with 8:06 remaining in the second half when Whitney Frament scored the next five points to tie the game 45-45. Corrina Rustmann put the Pioneers ahead 52-50, but Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY/Clarence) of Union answered right back with a back door lay up assisted by Selin Whitham (South Windsor/South Winson CT). Rogers put the Dutchwomen ahead 53-52 making 1-of-2 free throws, but later, Union missed two consecutive free throws to give the Pioneers one last chance in regulation. 

Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk/Mohawk) tallied a team-high 19 points for the Dutchwomen, while Nicole Cerniglia (Ridgefield Park/Ridgefield Park NJ) added 10 points and four rebounds.  Devon Ciliberto (New Paltz/New Paltz) narrowly missed a double-double tallying 10 rebounds and nine points for Union. 

Rustmann led the way for the Pioneers with 19 points, six rebounds and two steals, while Thomas had eight points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

Union (0-2) plays at Middlebury Saturday at 1 p.m.
