The Dutchmen improved to 4-1-1 while the Lancers fell to 6-2 on the season.
Union opened the scoring 9:31 into the contest when sophomore forward Casey Ftorek (Bedford, MA/Taft School) dribbled in from the left side and scored his second tally of the season. Just under two minutes later, Poey made it 2-0 with a feed from Andrew Jacobson (Morristown, NJ/Morristown).
The Dutchmen led 3-0 at halftime, as junior midfielder Luke Labella (Middletown, CT/Taft School), who assisted on the first goal, picked up a rebound directly in front and scored at 15:52.
Union closed out the scoring as Poey scored through a crowd in front at 71:40.
The Dutchmen outshot the Lancers, 27-5, and Worcester State keeper Chris Couture (Sturbridge, MA) made 11 saves. Union keeper Rob Kramer (Westport, CT/Staples) made one save in 84 minutes, and Harris Fendell (Short Hills, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) did not make a save in the final six minutes. The Dutchmen had a 6-1 advantage in corners.
Union opens Liberty League play next weekend, with games at Rensselaer Friday and Vassar Saturday.
