Union pulls out another victory today against St. Lawrence, 4-3

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.-- Junior forward Jessica Trotter (St. Louis, MO/ John Burroughs) led the Dutchwomen with two of the four goals in Saturday's 4-3 field hockey victory over the St. Lawrence Saints. 

This victory brought their record to a 4-4 for the overall season and a 2-1 record the Liberty League. St. Lawrence fell to a 4-3 overall season record and 0-2 in the Liberty League.

The three goals for the Saints were scored by Melissa Pittelli (Stony Creek, NY/ Corinth), Saeger Philpot (Gilmanton, NH/ Kimball Union) with an assist from Liz Allison (North Creek, NY/ Johnsburg) and Ali Mattison (Osterville, MA/ Tabor) with an assist from Erin Mellow (Grantham, NH/ Lebanon).  

Union put the first goal on the scoreboard, with 32:34 left in play of the first half by Trotter, her first of the game. St. Lawrence quickly responded with a goal at 29:50 by Pittelli. The Dutchwomen, quickly took the lead again with three unanswered goals to end the half with a 4-1 lead. The second goal with 16:11 left in the first half with an unassisted goal by Katie Bellucci (Patterson, NY/ Pawling), followed by one at 6:58 by Kristin Murphy (Branford, CT/ Branford) and assist by Anne Hanson (White River Junction, VT/ Hartford) and Trotter second goal of the game with 4:43 left in play.

The second half started with the Saints scoring two quick goals by Philpot at 27:11 and Mattison at 24:58 to bring the game to the final score of 4-3.

Union goalie, Elise Wakeland (Arundel, ME/ Kennebunk) stood strong this game with a total of 14 saves and 11 of them being in the second half alone. The Saints' Emilie Lannamann (Durham, NH/ Proctor Academy) had a total of 13 saves in the duration of the game.

Union had a 32-29 shot advantage while St. Lawrence had 11-9 advantage in corners.

Union returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. at New Paltz, while St. Lawrence plays on Saturday at Hamilton.
