GENEVA, N.Y.—The 16th-ranked Union College soccer team defeated 17th-ranked Elizabethtown 1-0 in NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament first round action this afternoon on Cozzens Field. The Dutchwomen improve to 16-4-0 on the season and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while the Blue Jays close out their season with a 17-4-1 record.

Stephanie Cannuli (Howell, N.J.) was responsible for the lone tally of the match. She lofted a shot over the head of Blue Jay goalie Angela Freeland (Marlton, N.J.) from 8 yards out, after classmate
Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, Mass.) found her in the middle of the field. Cannuli's third goal of the season came after just 26 minutes, 54 seconds of play.
Elizabethtown out shot the Dutchwomen 17-13, and held a 7-5 advantage on corner kick opportunities, but could not get past the Union defense.
Union sophomore goalkeeper
Melissa McDonald (Lynnfield, Mass.) picked up five saves en route to her 15th win and eighth shutout of the season. Freeland finished with six saves for the Blue Jays.
