CLINTON, NY -- The Continentals outscored the Dutchwomen, 35-25 in the second half as Hamilton downed Union, 59-48 in a Liberty League women's basketball game at the Scott Field House Saturday. The Dutchwomen fell to 10-10 and 6-4 in the league while the hosts improved to 13-5 and 6-3 in the league.
Sydney Fasulo had a double double for Hamilton with game highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Molly Kane scored 17. Only six players scored for the Continentals, who shot 43% for teh game and 79% from the line. Pumla Sathula dished out a game best six assists.
Union was led by Selin Whitham (South Windsor, CT/South Windsor), who scored 12 points with five rebounds. Krystal Hammond (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) also had five rebounds for the Dutchwomen, who shot 37% for the game and 33% (7-21) in the second half.
Hamilton led 24-23 at halftime, and went on a 13-4 run in the first 7:04 of the second stanza to take a 37-27 lead with 12:56 remaining. Kane had seven points in that run, including two three pointers. The Continentals' largest lead was at 13 twice in the second half.
Hamilton moved into a tie with RPI for second in the Liberty League (both 6-3), while Union fell to fourth place at 6-4.
The Dutchwomen return home for the final four games of the regular season. Union hosts Vassar Friday, February 9 at 6 p.m., and RPI Saturday, February 10 at 2 p.m.
