Allie Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional) scored four goals each and Union improved to 6-1 in the Liberty League with a 19-5 triumph over William Smith at Frank Bailey Field Saturday.
The Dutchwomen are now 8-3 overall after their sixth straight win, while the Herons fell to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the Liberty League after this, their final league contest of the season. Both teams have secured berths in the Liberty League Tournament.
Senior attack
Allie Toney (Bayville, NY/Locust Valley) scored three goals with an assist and junior midfielder
Keri Messa (Saratoga Springs, NY/Hotchkiss School) had two goals and assisted on three others to lead the Union cause. The Dutchwomen were also highlighted by two goals each by
Keelin Skurek (Massilon, NY/Western Reserve Academy) and
Emily Bryson (Charlestown, MA/Gov. Dummer).
Freshman attack Molly Fitzgerald (Sudbury, MA/Gould Academy) led the Herons with a goal and two assists, and senior attack Michaela Parnell (Guilford, CT/Guilford) had two goals. Union outshot William Smith, 37-16, including 26-7 in the first half, and had an 18-11 edge in ground balls. Both teams won 13 draw controls, and Union converted four of five free position attempts while William Smith converted three of five.
After Union opened the scoring on a Toney goal off a free position just 2:46 into the contest, the Herons tied it as Fitzgerald scored at 26:25. But the Dutchwomen scored 10 straight for an 11-1 lead after Zamore tallied with 3:28 left. But the Herons scored three goals in the final 1:10 to make it 11-4 at the half. Union opened the second half with five straight scores and had a 16-4 advantage with 15:42 remaining.
William Smith junior goaltender Morgan Baird (Gloucester, MA/Pingree School) made 13 saves in over 51 minutes of play, and Rebecca Josefiak (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) did not make a save in the final 8:26. Union junior goalie

William Smith plays a non-league game Wednesday at Nazareth at 4 p.m. Union takes on Middlebury, the top ranked team in the region, Tuesday at Frank Bailey Field at 4 p.m. The Dutchwomen will close out Liberty League regular season play next Friday at Vassar.
