Stephanie Cronan (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) scored three goals with an assist and juniors 
Emily Bryson (Charlestown, MA/Gov. Dummer) and 
Erin Lawson (Flourtown, PA/Springside) scored two goals each to lead Union to a 9-4 Liberty League women's lacrosse win over the University of Rochester at Frank Bailey Field Saturday.
Union, ranked #19 in the latest Laxpower.com poll, improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League, while the Yellowjackets fell to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in the league. Bryson also added an assist while junior 
Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional) also scored while winning seven draw controls for Union. Cuozzo led all of NCAA Division III in draw controls last season. Caitlin's sister, freshman 
Allison Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional), scored the other goal for the hosts.
 
Rochester had four players with one goal each, senior attack Heidi Davies, sophomore midfielder Lindsay Dakin, defender Melina Hong and freshman midfielder Danielle Mondro.
Sophomore goalie Leslie Dube made 13 saves for Rochester, while Union goaltender 
Stephanie Burlton (Coquitlam, BC/Milton Academy) stopped eight Yellowjacket shots. Union had a 26-19 shot advantage and 23-21 advantage in ground balls. The Dutchwomen converted two of five free position shots.
 
The teams were tied at 2-2 after Bryson scored with 13:21 left in the first half of a defensive minded contest. Hong scored on a free position shot at 10:23, Rochester's only conversion on five free position attempts, for the Yellowjackets last lead, 3-2. But Cronan scored free position goals at 6:51 and 5:56 to close out the first 30 minutes. The teams combined for 23 shots in the first half but it was only 4-3 Union at halftime. Union opened up the game with the first four goals of the second half for an 8-3 lead with 16:16 remaining.
Union plays Tuesday at Rensselaer at 7 p.m.
