WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Junior forward Lizzy Moran (Unionville, PA) scored in the second overtime to give the Union College field hockey team a 2-1 double overtime victory at Williams College Tuesday night. The Dutchwomen improved to 11-2 and won for the seventh straight time, while the Ephs fell to 6-7 overall.
This was Union's first field hockey win over Williams since September 24, 1998, after a string of 10 straight losses in the series.
Moran scored at 92:50 on an assist from Shannon Brady (Bernardston, MA). It was her fourth goal of the season and her third game winning score of 2008. It was Union's third overtime game this season, and seventh one goal victory.
Alexandra King (Chester Springs, PA) opened the scoring 4:40 into the game win an unassisted tally, but Julie Nawrocki tied it five minutes and 10 seconds later for the Ephs.
Union had a 17-14 shot advantage and also the advantage in corners, 10-7. Liz Stanford (Acton, MA) made seven saves for the Dutchwomen while Katrina Tulla stopped 10 for the night.
The Dutchwomen have key Liberty League road games coming up at Vassar Friday (at 3 p.m.) and at RPI Saturday (1 p.m.).
