Union and St. Lawrence play to 2-2 draw

CANTON, NYThe Union College men's soccer team rallied late for a 2-2 double-overtime draw at St. Lawrence on Saturday. Union moves to 8-3-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play, only one point out of the final Liberty League playoff spot. St. Lawrence goes to 9-6-1 and 3-2-1 in the conference, which is good enough for third place.
 
The Dutchmen jumped out at 17:23 with an unassisted goal by freshman midfielder Chris Choquette (Springfield, MA). The goal was the first of his career and he now has four points on the season.
 
St. Lawrence responded with goals at 57:26 and 59:59 to take a 2-1 lead. Kiel Dwyer scored the first on a play set up by Paul LaMarca and Dan Marvin tallied the second off a rebound. Ryan Moore was credited with the helper.
 
As time ticked away, freshman forward Craig Santangelo (Sayville, NY) sent home his third goal of the season from six yards out to tie the game. His goal, which came at 76:27, was his team-high tying third of the season.
 
Senior netminder Rob Kramer (Westport, CT) made seven saves, while St. Lawrence goalkeeper Emilio Coletta had five stops.
 
St. Lawrence held the advantage in shots (27-17) and corners (7-2).
 
The Dutchmen conclude Liberty League play on Saturday, Oct. 26 with a 1 p.m. contest at Clarkson.
