Hamilton sends Union women's lacrosse to first loss, 10-7

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Nicole Tetreault and Kaillie Briscoe both scored two goals and added one assist to lead fifth ranked Hamilton College past #8 Union College, 10-7, in a Liberty League women's lacrosse game at Campus Road Athletic Field Saturday.

The score was tied, 6-6, with 18:04 to play in the game until Hamilton (10-1, 4-0 Liberty) outscored Union (8-1, 5-1 Liberty), 4-1, the remainder of the way. Kate Marek scored on a free-position shot with 11:10 left to make the score 7-6, followed by unassisted goals from Sarah Bray and Tetreault with 8:25 and 6:31 left, respectively.

Union's Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA) cut the score to 9-7 with a free-position goal with 3:42 remaining, but the Continentals were able to hold off the Dutchwomen and seal the win with a Tetreault-to-Hilary Saverin oal with just eight seconds to play. Both Marek and Saverin each scored twice. Sarah Bray '11 registered a goal -- the game-winner -- and an assist. Kate Fowler '10 made five saves.

Keri Messa (Saratoga Springs, NY) led Union with three goals and one assist. Cuozzo had a goal and two assists. Melissa McDonald (Lynnfield, MA) made two saves.

Hamilton has won eight straight games, 14 straight against league opponents and 15 in a row at home. The Continentals lead the all-time series, 22-12.

Union plays another nationally ranked road game Wednesday at Middlebury.
