Men’s Soccer and New Paltz play to 1-1 draw

NEW PALTZ, NY –
Down to its last 5:58, freshman forward Sahr Nyuma scored the tying goal, helping the Union College men's soccer team tie New Paltz, 1-1, Wednesday. With the draw, Union goes to 8-3-1, while New Paltz moves to 6-6-2.
 
Nyuma's goal, his second of the season, came at 84:02 and was setup by sophomore defender Kevin Giron.
 
New Paltz, which served as the home team, took the lead at 69:30 on a goal by James Altadonna with an assist to Lucas Natel.
 
Union sophomore goalkeeper Mike Szczesniak made four saves in his 110 minutes of action, while New Paltz's Thomas Viscardi turned away five shots.
 
Both teams unloaded 12 shots and the Union held a 8-5 advantage on corners.
 
The Dutchmen return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 17 with a 3 p.m. matchup at Old Westbury.
