Dutchmen Fall to Hamilton on a Rainy Day

Box Score

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's soccer team were set back 1-0 to Hamilton on a heavy-shower Saturday afternoon at College Park.

Hamilton's Marcus Dormanan scored the lone goal when he knocked the ball into the goal after the ball was deflected. The goal came on a corner kick in the 42nd minute.

As the rain began to drop rapidly, both teams played more aggressive. Looking to tie the game in the 62nd minute, freshman Sahr Nyuma back-headed the ball inside the goal box but Hamilton goalkeeper Eric Boole made the catch.

Union made another attempt in the 70th minute. Freshman Sebastiaan Jensen headed the ball into the goal the ball went wide right. But the ball, still in play, was deflected back to Jensen where he booted the ball wide left.

The Dutchmen offense out shot Hamilton 10 to two in the second half but came up short.

The first half was quiet for both teams, however Hamilton out shot the Dutchmen seven to one in the half. The rain poured most of the half but stopped in time for the introduction of the 1986 Union men's soccer team, whom are to be inducted into Union College Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Dutchmen will return to the field on Sunday to face Hobart in a Liberty League match-up. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
