SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College junior running back
Chris Coney has been named the Liberty League Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, joining Rochester QB Braezen Subick.
Union is now the only 2-0 team in the Liberty League after Coney helped lead the Dutchmen to a 21-17 win at home over WPI on October 3. He ran for 153 yards on 31 carries with two touchdowns and also caught 66 yards in three receptions. It was Coney's ninth career 100 yard rushing game. He moved into eighth place in the career rushing annals at Union with 2,217 yards.
This is Coney's fifth career Liberty League weekly honor, and first in the 2009 season. Overall, three players have received five honors this year, as LB
John Peters is a three-time defensive performer of the week and QB Andrew Connolly won offensive honors last week.
The Dutchmen, 3-1 overall, take on Hobart (2-2, 1-1 in the Liberty League) Saturday at 2 p.m. at Frank Bailey Field.
