Despite late rally Union loses men’s soccer Liberty League Championship

, NY – Senior forward Jack Scott scored with less than four minutes remaining to send the men's soccer Liberty League Championship game into overtime where second-seeded Hobart defeated fourth-seeded Union, 2-1, to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Dutchmen, who are now 11-6-2, wait to see if they will receive one of 17 at-large bids to participate in the 59-team NCAA Tournament. A news release announcing the teams selected to the championship will be posted on NCAA.com Sunday, Nov. 8.with a bracket to follow Monday, Nov. 9, at approximately 10 a.m.
 
Scott's goal, his fourth of the season, was Union's second last-minute tally during the Liberty League tournament to force overtime. The Dutchmen got to the title game for the second-consecutive year after sending RPI into overtime with a goal at 85:28. Scott's goal came at 86:36 and was unassisted.
 
Hobart's Kevin McCarthy scored the golden goal at 105:24 with a shot from 17 yards out. The play was setup by a lead pass by Tony Yeboah.
 
The game entered the 84th minute at 0-0 and McCarthy helped his team get on the board with an assist on Michael Moulton's goal at 83:27.
 
Sophomore goaltender Adam Margulies made six saves, while his teammates bailed him out on one. At the other end Charlie Hale made four saves.
 
Both teams unloaded 14 shots, while Union held an 8-5 advantage on corner kicks.
