– The SUNYIT men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday, as the team fell to the Union College Dutchmen 75-60 at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The loss dropped the Wildcats to 4-1 on the year, while Union improved to 3-2.

Union could not be stopped in the first half, shooting 58 percent from the field and making nine three-pointers to take a commanding 47-26 first-half lead.  The Dutchmen also held SUNYIT to just 32 percent from the field and did not send them to the line once in the half, while the Wildcats also went just 4-of-17 from the three-point line.

Union's Matt Covucci pulled down a career high 13 rebounds, including 12 on the defensive side. Joey Lokitis had game-highs of 21 points and four steals to go along with six rebounds and three assists.  Keven Donohue went 5-of-7 from the field with two three-pointers to finish with 12 points in 16 minutes of play off the bench, while Drew Goldstein added 10 points for the Dutchmen. This was the second time this season that Lokitis scored 21.

SUNYIT remained cold in the second half and shot just 29 percent from the field, but picked it up on the defensive end to hold Union to 38 percent shooting from the floor.  The Wildcats were able to get as close as 10 points down, 51-61, with 7:09 left to play thanks to a 25-14 run to open the half, but that's as close as they could get, as the Dutchmen closed out the game with a 14-9 run of their own to seal the victory.
