STANFORD, CA -- Behind three goals from junior Andrew Higgins, the Union College men's lacrosse team defeated Whittier 8-5 on Sunday at Stanford during game one of the Dutchmen's spring break trip. Senior goalie Christopher Keinath made 12 saves to help improve his team's record to 3-1. Whittier goes to 4-5.

Higgins, who leads the team eight goals, was joined on the scoresheet with juniors Christopher Jacobson and Charles Hovsepian, sophomore Brendan Kinnane and freshmen Nick Alfonzettiand Ethan Meyer, who each had a goal.

Despite losing the groundball battle, 27-31, Union held a 32-23 advantage in shorts on goal, producing one 1-of-6 man-up opportunities. Whittier was 1-of-3 with an extra man.

The Dutchmen will face Stanford's club team on Wednesday, Mar. 25 at 4 p.m. (EST).
