SCHENECTADY, NY -- Kristin Joyce scored four goals and
Cat Ruggiero allowed a season low four goals as #15 Union won for the fifth straight time, 15-4 over the University of Rochester at Frank Bailey Field Saturday. The Dutchwomen, 7-2 overall, are 4-0 in the Liberty League, one game behind league leader Hamilton. The Yellowjackets fell to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.
Joyce, who now has 31 goals on the season, also had four ground balls and an assist. Ruggiero made eight saves in just under 54 minutes of play, as freshman
Alexis Deeb came in to see action for the final 6:11.

Abby Stohler scored two goals each while the Dutchwomen got single scores from Chesea Charette, Lizzy Rosato,
Shelby Cutter and
Hilary Salander.
Liz Zamore dished out two assists.
Rochester was led by Danielle Mondro (Concord, NH), who scored three goals on the day. Abby Woodward (Pittsford, NY) scored the other Yellowjacket tally.
Union outshot the guests, 32-25, including 19-8 in the second half. The hosts had 31 ground balls while Rochester had 22, and Union converted 14 of 17 clears and three of five free position shots.
The Yellowjackets had played six overtimes in a 16-15 loss at Skidmore Friday, yet came out and jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes. Mondro scored just 2:47 into the game and notched her 14th of the season with 25:01 left, when Rochester had a 7-0 shot advantage. But the Dutchwomen got consecutive goals by Joyce, with her second tying it up at 2-2 with 17:52 left. In the next 1:37 Union got two goals and then scored two more in the final 5:49 for a 6-2 halftime advantage.
Joyce and Charette converted free position shots in the first 1:24 for an 8-2 lead before Woodward scored her 29th of the season at 19:06. But the Dutchwomen opened up the lead to 11-3 with the next three goals, featuring Joyce's 31st and the 13th from LaForest, coming at 12:25. Mondro notched her third of the day at 9:59, but Union scored four times in the final 7:46 to wrap up the victory.
Leslie Dube (Skaneateles, NY) made 11 saves for the Yellowjackets, featuring seven in the busy second half. Mondro had nine shots, four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Union will play at #13 Cortland Monday at 4 p.m. It will be the fourth game for the Dutchwomen in seven days, and Union was a perfect 3-0 at home this week.
