Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's lacrosse now 10-2 as #12 Union wins at Clarkson, 15-13

POTSDAM, NY -- The #12 ranked Union women's lacrosse team posted an eighth straight victory with a 15-13 triumph at Clarkson Saturday. The Dutchwomen, (10-2 overall, 6-0 in the Liberty League) are now tied with Hamilton on top of the league. The Golden Knights moved to 4-9 overall and 1-6.

Ten different players scored goals for Union, led by Stohler, who contributed three goals. Kristin Joyce, Chelsea Charette, and Allie Cuozzo each scored twice, with Joyce also adding in three assists for a team-high five points.

After the first 11 minutes, Clarkson led 3-2, but the Dutchwomen ran off eight straight goals, including seven over the course of 6 minutes, 31 seconds, to take an 10-3 lead. Over that time, Union was able to earn possession on most of the draw controls and picked up most of the groundballs, limiting Clarkson's chances offensively while converting most of their shots on goal.

In the second half, Union pushed its lead to as many as seven goals, but the Golden Knights wouldn't go away. Union led 15-6 after an Stohler goal with 5:15 remaining, but Clarkson scored four straight in the final minutes, and the Knights trailed by just two with just under two minutes to go in the contest. However, Union goalie Alexis Deeb made a key save right after the next draw and the Dutchwomen were able to hold off the Knights' late charge.

Junior Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) scored a game-high eight points with seven coming on goals, and also added six groundballs. Her seventh goal of the contest gave her Clarkson's single-season record for goals scored (48). Senior Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) also netted three goals, and in the process became Clarkson's all-time leading point-scorer with 164 points, passing Lindsey Grigg (2004-07). Freshman Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT) also scored twice, and classmate Nikki Corso (Derry, NH) added a goal and an assist. Junior Brittnie Carroll (Dexter, NY) assisted on two goals and freshman Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY) also added an assist.

Union held advantages in shots (32-29) and groundballs (38-31). Deeb made eight saves for the Dutchwomen while Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) stopped 11 shots for the Knights.

The Dutchwomen will close out the regular season with three straight home games. Tuesday features a non-league contest against Nazareth at 4 p.m. Then huge league games await at Frank Bailey Field next weekend. Union hosts Hamilton (both teams are currently 6-0 in league) Friday at 4 p.m. and then takes on William Smith (currently 5-1 in league) Saturday at 2 p.m.
