SCHENECTADY, NY -- Jessica Strang scored two goals and
Allison Cuozzo had two assists as the Union College women's soccer team opened the 2009 season with a 4-0 win over St. Joseph College at the RPI Tournament Saturday.
The Dutchwomen dominated St. Joseph with a 23-6 shot advantage, and had a 13-3 lead in shots on goal. Other goal scorers for Union included
Caitlin O'Donnell and
Bianca Germain.
Union notched the first goal of the new season at 14:02 when O'Donnell scored on an assist from
Katie Weinstein. Strang made it 2-0 12:43 later with the first of Cuozzo's two assists. It remained 2-0 at halftime.
Germain scored at 48:10 with an assist to McLean and Strang wrapped up the scoring with another feed from Cuozzo at 54:13.
Abby Stohler and
Melissa McDonald combined for three saves in the Dutchwomen nets. McDonald made two of the stops in the second half.
Union will face SUNY Plattsburgh Sunday at 11 a.m. in tournament play.
