Box Score

CLINTON, NY -- Nationally ranked No. 14 Hamilton College scored two goals early in the first half, and Molly Brooks '14 made four saves for her fourth shutout, as the Continentals defeated Union College 2-0 in a Liberty League field hockey game at Hamilton's Campus Road Athletic Field Saturday.

Hamilton (11-1 overall, 6-0 Liberty) won its ninth straight game. The Continentals play No. 7 Skidmore College -- also 6-0 in the league -- at home on Sunday, Oct. 24, for the league's regular season title. Union (7-7, 3-3) is tied for third place in the league standings with William Smith. The Dutchwomen travel to St. Lawrence University on Sunday. Union needs to win at St. Lawrence to earn one of the four spots in the league tournament.

Caitlin Livsey gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead with 23:15 left in the first half, when she swatted the loose ball into the back of the cage after a scramble in front for her fourth goal.

Just 101 seconds later, the Continentals grabbed a 2-0 advantage on a penalty corner. Catie Torcivia entered the ball to Colleen Callaghan, who stopped it and took a couple dribbles to the right before she fired a long shot past the goalie. Callaghan's goal was her 15th this year, which ties a team record for most in a season. Sarah Feyerherm also scored 15 goals in 1982.

Brooks lowered her goals against average to 1.15 with the shutout. Sarah Rios made seven saves for Union. Both teams were credited with 14 shots. Hamilton held a slim 7-5 edge in penalty corners.
