SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Union College men's soccer team came from behind to beat Skidmore College 2-1 Saturday at Wachenheim Field in the regular season final for both teams. With the win, the Dutchmen (10-5-2, 5-1-1 Liberty) clinch second place and home field for the upcoming Liberty League semifinals on Nov. 3 against Rensselaer. The Thoroughbreds end the season at 7-8-4 overall and 1-4-2 in Liberty play.
Skidmore scored first at 39:58 when Tim Lueders-Dumont headed home a pass from Matt Kelsey as he was being tackled in front of the net.
Union tied it on Sebastian Jansen's seventh goal of the year at 66:57. In a crowd in front, Jansen got a head on a ball from Tom Albano. #Marc Zeyak got the game-winner from Chris Choquette# at 79:21, powering the ball past Thoroughbred keeper Steven Vasquez for his sixth goal of the season.
Union finished with a 15-9 edge in shots, including a 10-4 advantage in the second half.
Vasquez had six saves for Skidmore, while Adam Margulies and Mike Szczesniak combined for three saves for Union. Szczesniak earned the win to go 1-0 for the season.
